Who had the biggest influence on your career & why?My previous boss and the Founder of Spur Interactive, Steve Latham. He opened the door to the online marketing world for me. Before, I was a traditional media planner in a multicultural ad agency, but my heart has always been on the digital side. I knew that digital was the way to go. In 2008, I reached out to Steve because he is the founder of HiMA (Houston Interactive Marketing Association) and expressed my desire to learn more about the digital world. Not long after that, he offered me a position with Spur and that’s how I started my online marketing adventure. I am thankful to Steve for the opportunities that he has given me – he changed my career path! What drove your decision to get into the marketing business?Since I was a kid, I enjoyed watching commercials. I could sing every jingle and commercial tune. When I got older, I told myself that I needed to find a job that keeps me as entertained as commercials. I thought advertising seemed like a cool industry, so I selected it as my major at University of Texas at Austin. What are you most proud of – your finest hour?Moving to the states for college, all by myself, when I was 18. What was your most embarrassing career moment?Pronounced a client’s name wrong. What attracted you to DMN3?DMN3 has a pool of talented and experienced marketing gurus who are highly respected in the industry – I would love to learn more from them and apply that knowledge to the digital world. Share a great client story.Test-running a Facebook campaign for The SCOOTER Store, targeting seniors on Facebook. At first we were very skeptical about reaching seniors on social media, but it worked so well that we are still using it today! The SCOOTER Store client loves the placement too. What is your method for developing creative solutions for your clients?Keep thinking about it 24/7, no matter what you are doing – while you are taking your lunch or a shower, whenever! In my experience, the chances are good that you will find answers and inspiration when not at the office. In your opinion, what makes a great brand?A great brand has the power to create an emotional connection to its audience. What driving career goals are you still pursuing?Become a master of online marketing. Name at least one talent that you wish you could master?Sports — I wish I could play at least one sport – but, too bad I can’t. If you were marooned on a desert island, what would you miss most?My family and friends. What food helps you think creatively?Tea — I need caffeine to keep my brain thinking. I can’t survive without it in the morning. |
