Who had the biggest influence on your career & why?

An economics professor who recommended I focus on a business career rather than an academic one because business would be a lot more fun.

What are you most proud of – your finest hour?

Professionally, it was the closing of the sale of AHI Healthcare, where I was CFO/COO, to Wellpoint Health Networks, Inc. in 1995. It was the successful culmination of an arduous 4-year turnaround process of two business units that had been on the brink of bankruptcy before I got involved.

What is your method for developing creative solutions for your clients?

My problem solving expertise is finance and/or operationally focused and the impetus there is to create solutions that improve efficiency or productivity.

In your opinion, what makes a great brand?

Products and services that consistently meet brand expectations.

Name at least one talent that you wish you could master?

Public speaking.

If you were marooned on a desert island, what would you miss most?

Family.

What food helps you think creatively?

No more than two Silver Patron Margaritas.

What is your favorite sports team & why?

The Astros – listening to Astros radio was a summertime staple as a kid.
